The wide brown land for me

One of the things I find fascinating about this country is that you can drive for just a couple of hours and the terrain is completely different. Many young Australians seem obsessed with doing the Europe thing (and yes, I still want to too), where you can drive for a couple of hours and be in a whole different country. Border checks and all. But they often seem to overlook what is right here at home. I’ve travelled quite a lot in Australia, probably more than many my age, and the diversity of nature and beauty is just astounding. The Great Barrier Reef, Coober Pedy, Canberra, Hobart, the Illawarra, the southwest capes of WA: these might as well be six different countries for their difference in appearance and, yes, even culture to an extent.
